The European Association of Archaeologists decided to institute the EAA Student Award in 2002. The prize will be awarded annually to the best paper presented at the EAA conference by a student or archaeologist, who had been working on a dissertation. The papers will be evaluated for their academic merit and innovative ideas by the Award Selection Committee. The Committee is made up from representatives of the EAA Executive Board. The Award consists of a diploma. The winner of the award will be announced at the Annual Business Meeting and the winning paper will be published in the European Journal of Archaeology (EJA).
Only one paper per person can be submitted for consideration by the Student Award Committee.
The applicants should certify their student status (e.g. by a simple form signed by the professor/supervisor). The papers submitted must not have been published previously in a journal or given at a conference. The submitted text should be in article format suitable for the EJA: up to 7000 words including references, and following the instructions for authors (http://www.e-a-a.org/journal.htm)
All MA and Ph.D. students, who present their papers at the conference, as well as archaeologists working on a dissertation, are eligible to apply and must submit their papers to the Award Selection Committee for evaluation by 31st August. Entries should be sent to the EAA Secretariat: eaa@arup.cas.cz.
